Scottish take-home pay calculator 2026/27

Your full payslip under Scotland’s six income tax bands – with UK-wide National Insurance, pension and student loan deductions on top.

Notes

Scottish income tax applies to anyone whose main home is in Scotland (tax codes starting with S). For 2026/27 the starter and basic rate bands rose 7.4 percent while the higher (42 percent), advanced (45 percent) and top (48 percent) thresholds stayed frozen. National Insurance and student loans are not devolved, so those deductions match the rest of the UK – most Scottish-resident graduates are on Plan 4.

Roughly speaking, Scots earning under about £30,300 pay slightly less tax than in England; above that, progressively more. The Scottish income tax calculator shows the band-by-band split and the gap against the rest of the UK.
