Payroll services for hotels
A hotel is several payrolls in one: housekeeping on variable hours, a salaried front office, a kitchen brigade with tronc, and often live-in staff with accommodation offsets – all on one PAYE scheme.

What makes hotels payroll different
- Departmental cost reporting. Finance needs gross-to-net split by rooms, F&B and events; insist on department-level journals into your accounts system.
- Service charge and tronc distribution. Discretionary service charges distributed through a compliant tronc avoid NI; mandatory ones do not. The rules mirror those covered for pubs and restaurants.
- Live-in employees. The accommodation offset is the only benefit-in-kind that can count toward minimum wage, and only up to £11.10 a day.
- Seasonal contracts. Fixed-term seasonal staff still accrue 5.6 weeks of pro-rata holiday – see the holiday calculator.
What to look for in a provider
Hospitality-specialist bureaus that pair tronc administration with rota-system integration (Fourth, Planday, RotaCloud and similar) remove most of the manual work.
Pricing follows the wider market – see what outsourcing costs (£4 – £10 per employee per month fully managed) – but sector add-ons matter more than the headline rate, so always compare like-for-like quotes.
